Accounting Assistant – WBI Home Warranty (Surrey)

WBI Home Warranty is currently looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in our Surrey office.

In this role you’ll be reporting directly to the Executive Vice-President with a dotted line to our Administrative Manager. This is an exciting role for someone who thrives working in a team environment and dealing with high volume tasks.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • You will be responsible for the receipts and preparation of deposits for multiple bank accounts;
  • You will be in charge of the invoicing;
  • You will prepare the payables for premiums, claims, refunds, taxes;
  • Your will oversee the reconciliation of premiums, fees, taxes;
  • You will calculate commission;
  • You will assist with month end;
  • You will assist with the preparation of reports;
  • You will do the recordkeeping;
  • You will be the liaison with external parties;
  • You will on occasion do the bank deposit;
  • You will assist in other areas as required.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You are someone who has at least 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting;
  • If you are working towards your professional accounting designation this will be considered as an asset;
  • You have a strong advanced understanding of Microsoft Office particularly Excel;
  • You have worked with Quickbooks in the past or other similar accounting software;
  • You have great communication skills, both written and verbal so you can easily explain accounting ideas to co-workers and third parties;
  • You have an ability to work with minimal supervision while working in a team environment;
  • You are detailed-oriented, self-motivated and have a great ability to set priorities;
  • You have strong organization and time management skills to meet deadlines;
  • You are a quick learner. This will be needed as we keep moving and changing and your ability to adapt quickly will be greatly appreciated;
  • You are a problem-solver. You have innovative solutions to any problems you encounter;
  • You are always looking to do things better and faster while having an eye for details;
  • You have a can-do attitude and a willingness to help in all areas even outside of accounting. We’re a team who help each other and it’s important to us to add another team member who thinks likewise.
